We also use them to measure campaign effectiveness. This is most likely the recommended way to run these two units together in a studio setup the way I'd imagine both Fractal Audio and Universal Audio recommend as well. We use cookies and similar methods to recognise visitors and remember preferences. (sorry, forgot what the connections are on the back of these things!! Haha) If the output on the back of the AXE FX is XLR OUT, then simply use a female XLR cable out of the AXE FX (XLR OUT 1 / Right) into Input 5 via 1/4" TRS. If input 5 on the Apollo is 1/4" IN only, then simply use a balanced 1/4" cable (TRS to TRS). Input 5 of the Apollo using a balanced TRS 1/4" to XLR. Output 1 from the Axe FX (which should be LEFT, not right). I also didn't know you were sending the output of the AXE FX into a PRE.Īnyways, this makes it easy now that I understand exactly what the issue is: Thanks for all everyone - very helpful indeed!I didn't know that about the Apollo (sorta like the old Digi 002 setup in the back). Thanks for all everyone - very helpful indeed! I'm not running Left & Right yet for stereo, just getting mono from the fractal so we'll play around a bit more and see what happens. I'll try tracking with it to see if it's a good basic level but so far this seems like the best option. I switch in the Apollo mixer consolo to -10dbV and everything evened out and sounds great to my ears. It sounded lower, but cleaner with no digital clipping which told me that the combo of both preamps was overkill and too hot. So I used an XLR - TRS adapter and went into the Apollo on channel 5 instead. Channels 5-8 on the Apollo are TRS inputs and are non-preamp channels. I got signal and it sounded good when I engaged PAD on the Apollo.īut it is using the preamps of the Apollo which was what I was concerned with. I played around with different options and what I first did was go Balanced Output 1 (right) with an XRL into channel 1 XLR of the Apollo. I was definitely using unbalanced TRS with a Y cable before into my Duet which was stupid, and I now know why that was the wrong thing to do. My main question wasn't so much how to come out of the Fractal as it was how to go into the Apollo.
